District of Sicamous Recognized for Its Beautiful Gardens and Community Spaces
The District of Sicamous is being recognized for its commitment to creating beautiful, welcoming spaces throughout the community, earning recognition from Gardeners of BC and British Columbia Communities in Bloom as a 2026 Friend participant.
While Sicamous may be best known as the Houseboat Capital of Canada, there is another side of the community that visitors and residents are increasingly discovering—one where gardens, flowers, art, recreation and nature come together.
British Columbia Communities in Bloom recently highlighted Sicamous for the way gardens have become woven into the community’s identity and visitor experience. From vibrant seasonal planters throughout town to unique garden spaces and community initiatives, Sicamous is demonstrating how thoughtful landscaping and public spaces can add to the character and appeal of a community.
Among the initiatives highlighted is the Art & Garden Walk, which brings together creativity and beautiful outdoor spaces while encouraging residents and visitors to explore Sicamous on foot. The community’s thoughtfully designed Healing Centre also provides an inviting garden environment, while the Sicamous Rail Trail showcases how recreation, nature and the surrounding landscape can work together.
These efforts are about more than simply planting flowers. Beautiful gardens and public spaces contribute to the overall experience of living, working and visiting Sicamous. They create inviting gathering places, enhance streetscapes, complement local businesses and give visitors another reason to slow down and explore the community.
The recognition also shines a light on the work of Sicamous Communities in Bloom, whose efforts help promote gardening, beautification and community pride. Their dedication, along with the work of local residents, volunteers, businesses and the District, helps make Sicamous a more vibrant place for everyone.
Downtown Business Curb Appeal Contest
As part of the Communities in Bloom initiative, the community is also invited to take part in the Downtown Business Curb Appeal Contest.
Vote for the business you think should be recognized for outstanding curb appeal. Flowers, hard and soft landscaping—whoever you think deserves recognition for the work they have done to make downtown Sicamous look fabulous.
This is your opportunity to celebrate the businesses that go above and beyond to enhance the downtown experience through beautiful storefronts, creative landscaping and welcoming outdoor spaces.
Businesses that receive the most votes will be recognized with special recognition signs and Scott’s Good to Grow products as a way of celebrating their efforts and encouraging continued beautification throughout the downtown core.
