How we advocate
From local to provincial government, we’re here to stand for the businesses in our district.
Advocacy
As a member of the BC Chamber of Commerce we are part of the largest and most broadly-based business organization in British Columbia. There are more than 125 Chambers of Commerce and Boards of Trade, and 36,000 businesses of every size, sector and region of the province. The BC Chamber of Commerce is The Voice of Business in B.C. meeting with MLA’s, MP’s and ministers so your voices are heard.
It is through this relationship our Chamber has been able to advocate to prevent the closure of the back county and speak on behalf of small business to the request the federal and provincial government reduce the tax rate. These are just a few examples of the more than 70 policies that are championed and voted on by the membership at the BC Chamber’s Annual General meeting each year. Following the Annual General Meeting the Policies are submitted or presented to the provincial and federal governments and are individually called to the attention of the Cabinet ministers responsible in order to make it possible for pending government legislation and regulations to reflect the opinions of the members.
Locally we meet with municipal and regional government, our MP Mel Arnold and our MLA Greg Kyllo to express the concerns of our member and find solutions for our business and for our community. We host town hall meetings and provide letters of support to ensure you are both informed and represented.
THANK YOU
