Still Time to Ride: The Sicamous Ferry & Rail Trail
There’s still time to enjoy one of Sicamous’ most popular summer experiences!
The Sicamous Ferry continues to shuttle pedestrians, cyclists, families and visitors across the channel to connect with the Shuswap North Okanagan Rail Trail—and there are still weekends left to get out and enjoy it!
The ferry will continue operating on weekends through Thanksgiving, giving locals and visitors another opportunity to explore the newly expanded sections of the Rail Trail from the Sicamous side. The ferry provides a unique and scenic connection between Sicamous and the trail, making it easier for people to enjoy the beautiful lakeside route without having to drive around the lake.
Another Great Year for the Ferry
It has been another successful and exciting season for the Sicamous Ferry Society, with the ferry carrying enthusiastic visitors and locals across the channel to experience the Rail Trail.
The Ferry Society is a community-supported initiative, and they are incredibly grateful for the donations and support received throughout the season. The continued generosity of the community helps make this unique connection possible.
The Rail Trail continues to develop, with new sections opening as construction progresses. The Sicamous-to-Mara Lake section currently provides access to approximately 14 kilometres of trail, with users encouraged to follow posted signage and current access information.
Get Out and Enjoy It!
If you haven’t experienced the Rail Trail from the Sicamous side yet, there is still time this fall.
Grab your bike, walking shoes, family or friends and hop aboard the ferry for a beautiful day on the trail.
It is a great example of what can happen when community organizations, volunteers, partners and residents work together to create new experiences and opportunities for our region.
