Planned Power Outage – April 19, 2026 | What Sicamous Businesses Need to Know
BC Hydro has scheduled a planned power outage for the Sicamous area on Sunday, April 19, 2026, as part of essential infrastructure work to support the region’s growing needs.
Outage Details:
Date: Sunday, April 19, 2026
Time: 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM
Customers Affected: Approximately 4,500
This outage will allow BC Hydro crews to safely complete critical maintenance, repairs, and upgrades on the transmission line that serves Sicamous and surrounding communities. This work is necessary to improve the reliability, safety, and overall efficiency of the local power system.
Because this transmission line supplies power to several thousand residents and businesses, temporarily shutting off electricity is required to ensure the safety of both crews and the public while work is carried out during daylight hours.
What This Means for Local Businesses
The Sicamous & District Chamber of Commerce encourages all businesses to plan ahead and take proactive steps to minimize disruption. Consider reviewing staffing schedules, safeguarding perishable inventory, and ensuring any critical systems are properly shut down in advance.
Customers with current contact information on file with BC Hydro have already received initial notifications via email and automated phone calls, with a second reminder to follow closer to the outage date.
