in writing to the office located at 446 Main Street, Sicamous by
4:00 pm Wednesday, May 8th, 2024.
Applicants must be a Member in good standing 30 days prior to the nominations closing date of May 8th, 2024, Member in good standing is the status assigned to a member of the Sicamous & District Chamber of Commerce when he/she/ her/his organization has remained current on Chamber membership fees and payments.
The Board of Directors are volunteers from diverse professional backgrounds who are elected for 1 or two-year terms to manage the affairs of the Board in accordance with the By-laws.
This Governance Board will ensure the Sicamous & District Chamber of Commerce promotes and attracts economic, commercial, industrial and social growth to Sicamous and the surrounding areas.
Our board members represent the leaders and drivers in our community. This diverse cross section of local business people offers a variety of skill sets that will ensure the growth of the Sicamous & District Chamber of Commerce, it’s members and the communities it represents.
Expectations of Candidates for election to the Board of Directors should:
- Be prepared to attend 6 board meetings per year, including the AGM.
- Make every attempt to attend Signature events held by the Sicamous & District Chamber of Commerce (Business Excellence Awards, Mayor’s Breakfast, Biz after Biz)
- Participate on a Committee
- Be aware of the financial commitment that a Board Member has. The expenses incurred for, board and executive meetings, dinner and luncheon meetings, are all the responsibility of the individual member.
- Assist with the efforts to grow our Chamber by identifying and introducing potential new members.
- Be at least 19 years of age.
- Be able to speak and vote on behalf of the business member they represent.
